Encompassing a Positive Outlook

How did letting go work out for you last week? Did you find that the benefits outweighed the challenges? What was the overall shift in the way you navigated through life?

Did you notice your outlook on things was geared in a much more positive direction?

I hope the answer to this last question is YES!!!!

Having a positive outlook on life is everything. It’s a way in which, I believe, most people would like to operate at all times. It’s become ever-present in our current day and age with so many people seemingly riding the cultural wave of “Good Vibes Only”, but is it really that easy? Sure it sounds cool to say, but we need to ask ourselves what does it really mean to operate authentically within this space?

Our brain power, fortunately, allows us to think in abundance about doing things but the amount of things we think of vs. the amount of things we put into action is staggering. It’s one thing to say I’m going to try and stay positive throughout the day but it’s another to actually implement this practice. Issues arise, stuff gets on our nerves, and we get annoyed when things don’t go as planned. Life is unpredictable. Therefore, positivity needs to be understood as a core value one must cultivate and grow.

A way of being! So, how then do we bridge the gap?

First, I ask you to start thinking about the following... How you react to circumstance. Your approach and interaction with others. The energy you allow in and the energy you give off. What you think about yourself. What you think about everyone else. Your level of confidence. Your response to adversity. Your level of resiliency. How you tackle diversity. How you inspire others. Awareness of your environmental responsibility. How you take initiative. Ways in which you listen to the things around you. Hearing vs. Understanding. Perseverance. The power of social responsibility. The list could go on and on but hopefully you get the idea.

What levels are you currently operating at in your life regarding these ideals? Are there some that are easier to reach at high levels than others? What is getting in your way of maximizing your potential within each one? Create awareness for yourself here so that you are able to make purposeful shifts when necessary.

Next, is understanding that a positive mindset starts with a conscious effort. Maybe it’s setting a daily intention first thing in the morning. Maybe it’s journaling before you go to bed, on the positive things that happened during the day. Maybe it’s meditating, or listening to a pod cast before you get your day started. Maybe it’s a combination of all three.

It can be anything that helps you build awareness around seeing the good before the bad.

Before you know it, the concentrated conscious effort you once had to make behind lending a helping hand or giving someone the benefit of the doubt becomes second nature. Or the moment you used to want to strangle your co-worker for annoyingly asking a million questions a day disappears because you finally become aware that they are just super eager to learn from you.

Now, you’re inspiring people around you to do better and be better and the great thing is that it actually has nothing to do with them but rather the way in which you respect yourself and your own values.

When you operate at your best in all aspects you naturally begin to think in more positive ways about your life as a whole. Things start to become authentic and easy and you are beginning to live your best life.

Simply put, positivity is finding the good in situations. Knowing that even in our worst times there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

This week’s challenge asks, whose light will you be?
